The Unexpected Step We Took to Start Daily Dhikr with Our Child
Some of the resources linked here are from external authors and creators that we personally found beneficial and wanted to share. We are not affiliated with them and do not earn from these recommendations.
Our free printable however, is created and provided by us. I have also linked two sleep training resources that really helped us, one in ebook form and one as a physical book.
Growing up, I was always surrounded by dhikr. It was actually my lullaby, as I would fall asleep to it every Thursday night during dhikr circles attended with my parents when I was younger.
When we had our own child though, I wasn’t really sure how to bring that into our routine, aside from the dhikr and salawat we recited after prayer. We chose to start sleep training our little one around the age of 15-18 months, and bedtime always started early. As we put her down in her cot, we read the protective duaas such as Ayatul Qursy and the Three Quls (Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Naas).
“But what else was there?” we thought.
By the will of Allah, our visiting friends from South Australia gifted our baby a belated birthday gift, and our dhikr habit then came to us in the form of… a pink cloud cushion with our daughter’s name on it. It wasn’t just a gift for our little one but for us too, as we actually learned these duaas from the cushion itself!
Since then, we’ve been reading them every day. May Allah reward our friends with sadaqah jariyah for making this part of our daily dhikr, and soon yours too with this free printable which looks like this:
I’m also working on a physical version that comes framed, which will be available in the shop soon, in shaa Allah.
We hope this can be a small way to help your little ones build the habit of remembering Allah before sleep and upon waking every day, in shaa Allah 🤍
